Wanna see the tunnels in Chinatown?
Join Creative Fresno and Chinatown Revitalization, Inc. in a "past and future" walking & talking tour as the first discussion in this season’s MindForum lecture series.
The walk will explore the history of the downtown neighborhood including dropping down underground to see the rumored tunnels, learning about China Alley, and visiting the historic Buddhist Temple. Moderator Kathy Omachi will also share the economic development plans for the future of Chinatown.
Next to the Chinatown Revitalization Office is a traditional Japanese bakery. Have you ever had mochi? How about mochi with fruit? Mochi is a traditional Japanese pastry. The local peeps at the KogeTsu-do Bakery have begun to use fruit as a filling as a way to make it uniquely a San Joaquin Valley treat.
Coffee will be available at the Chinatown Revitalization Office, and we will start our walk at the parking lot across the street.
Wear comfy walking shoes and learn about the neighborhood's history and proposed future. Flashlights are required, but will be available for purchase if you need one.
Space is limited to the first 40 participants. Be sure to get there early.
